Kentucky Basketball, A Family Tradition

— Let’s go cAts!

It’s tournament time in the Bluegrass!

Kentucky Basketball

University of Kentucky Basketball, one of the biggest traditions in the bluegrass state. What makes it so special you ask? It is a time where the state comes together (well unless your a Louisville fan) and is all rooting for the same thing. We come together to cheer on our CATS. People can forget about all the hard things and life and just focus on one thing, Kentucky making it to the big dance.

Kentucky basketball has always been a tradition in my family. I have watched Kentucky basketball with my dad ever since I was a little girl. We watched through the good years and the bad always hoping Kentucky would come out with the win. Now my dad, my husband and myself get to share that tradition with our little boy. We get to spend weekends watching the Cats play, watching other games as well as we scope out the competition. Sitting down and watching games together and taking a break from the everyday hustle and bustle is so nice. We enjoy our time together.

This evening we get to do a first as a family. My son, husband and I are heading to Rupp Arena to watch the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Kentucky isn’t this close to home but we still get to go experience what it is like to go to the tournament and if I had to guess it is going to be pretty exciting. Tournament games always are. They are filled with teams giving it their all to be number 1.

I am so thankful for Kentucky Basketball and how it pulls not only our family together but also our state. Tonight we won’t be rooting for Kentucky but I guarantee tomorrow most of the state will be tuning in to see if the Cats can beat Troy to advance to the next round.

So through all of the hustle and bustle of life take time to sit down as a family and enjoy a tradition together. And as always Lets Go CATS! C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS!
